Upload Pictures To Instagram App on Ipod/phone?

Is there a way to take pictures already on your cameral roll and put them on instagram? Or do you really need to take the picture through the app? Can you save the pic before choosing a filter and go back to it later?
Where exactly do I go to do that?

Simply load them from your camera roll. Its an available option.

No there is an option that allows you to transfer pictures to Instagram. If you post the picture to Instagram it automatically saves the filtered picture to your iPhone camera roll. So to transfer the picture from your camera roll to Instagram, you will have to hit the "share" button on the bottom, then once the camera loads tap the sign that looks like papers stacked on top of each other. Then the camera roll will show up and you can pick your picture! Hope this helps!!
