A question about facebook and youtube?
If I have one tab open with my facebook account, and another tab open on youtube, is it possible for people to see what I watch on youtube?

It notifies me on the thing in the top right corner of facebook when friends are listening to something on spotify. By thing, I mean the thing that kinda acts like a second newsfeed if you know what I'm talking about. Does it also do this with youtube or any other websites? thank you.

Hello,

Apps and facebook like to have connections, so it can let everyone that you know (and the app and facebook itself) what you like. It does that with spotify because it was linked at a different point in time, but it won't with YouTube, I don't think YouTube allows facebook to link with it, only Google+.

Basically, different apps (such as spotify) will ask you if they're allowed to have certain access to your facebook account. Normally, it's things like posting on your wall, but trusted apps will usually ask your permission before doing so, unless it's something like spotify, which spams everyone with what you're listening.

Certain apps will just (without your permission) post things like: "I just found out which celebrity I look like!" with some photo that you don't like next to Brad Pitt for example.

No Youtube Does Not Tell People on Facebook What you Are Watching Just Because you have a Another Tab Open

The only way someone can see what you're watching is to have access to your computer. When you're logged in to a site, say facebook, they can see what you do in their site, but cannot see what you do elsewhere. The same goes in youtube. If you are logged in, your youtube & possibly all of your google history can be seen since google & youtube is one owner of both. You can clear your youtube history of what you've watched.

Your computer keeps a log of every site you've visited, if you don't want it to keep a log, you can go to the settings menu & have your history cleared every time you close the window out or log out. This is done in your internet settings. If you have chrome, simply view in the top right corner, by clicking that icon with the 3 lines. Then select "settings" & locate at the bottom "show advanced settings." Locate "Privacy" & ensure the settings are set the way you want.

Also go to the start menu>control panel> type in the search box "internet" & click on "Internet Options."

There are a ton of settings you can change to your liking there as well.

Privacy tab = check "Never allow websites to request your physical location"
General = Browsing history>settings
here is where you decide if you want your computer to keep a record of your browsing history that stay in your computer or not.

Lastly your "ISP" (Internet Service Provider) can see what sites you visit. Not so much to snoop & judge you, but if a person were to say, commit some crime & a search warrant resulted in searching the criminal's home & viewed the search history, it would be for the purpose of gathering evidence to prove the crime(s). Like internet stalking, victimizing someone or some type of illegal act, fraud, murder, an adult finding children to try to victimize them somehow, etc.

Bottom line, facebook sees your facebook activity. Youtube sees where you visit when you're logged in. Your history is read by what is kept in your computer to make advertising suggestions to you or to complete when you start typing in a place you already visited, automatically. Remember though, your computer might have in the history, remembering your passwords so when you go to a site, you are automatically logged in. If you change your settings so the history is wiped every time, it may result in you having to get your login name & PW each time rather than using what is in the memory that kept track of your history

You can have 2 different browsers. One that wipes the history & keeps no logs on your computer for surfing the net, watching youtube etc. Then a different browser for logging in to specific sites you want in your history. Like the microsoft's internet "explorer" for one & say, google chrome for the other. This way you get the best of both worlds. Privacy when browsing through lots of video watching & on the other, a way to go to places you want the system to keep passwords/login data.

I hope this helps!
