Sooo I like a guy that doesn't know I exist?

So I have a crush on this guy. He hangs out with the "popular" Group which makes me sad because he is nothing like any of them. He is literally nice to everybody! So sure we've had a couple short conversations as and a hi or excuse me when one of us is in the others way in class like today he stepped on the back of my shoe and he's like oh I'm so sorry and I'm like oh it's okay. Anyway I really want to start messaging him on Facebook/talking to him in class when possible and I don't even think he really knows I exist like he knows I exist but he wouldn't think of me as a person to carry on conversations with. Anyway I really like him so any advice? I am just way too shy to go up to him and like talk to him Face to face so I would like to start out with the messages if possible so help :/?

I think the best thing to do is talk to him in person first and study his movements and facial expressions. And if he still acts like he doesn't have the time in the day for ya then he might not like you.
