Convert Facebook Personal Page To Existing Fan Page?

I currently have a personal page that I want to convert to a fan page. The problem is I already setup the fan page with the same name. When I try to migrate, this error displays:

"It looks like you already manage a Page named X. Please choose a different name or go to your current Page."

Is it better to remove the existing fan page and then do the migration, or should I rename the fan page to something different and then do the migration? Also, my current vanity URL I setup for my personal page is the same name as the fan page. Thanks for you help.
I don't want to create a new fan page since I need to secure my company name for branding. My biggest concern is that if I delete my current fan page, will I be able to convert my personal page to the same name. Hopefully the fan page name will be available after its deleted.
