How do I get rid of Facebook messenger?

I downloaded Facebook messenger onto my iPhone and now everytime I get a message on Facebook it switches to messenger and I don't get the bubble with my friends face in it on the side so I can't do other things. How can I change this? Because apparently if you delete the app it will just ask you to download it again

It's the new facebook update, they no longer have the bubble faces in the actual facebook app. Having the second messenger app is a must if you want to chat to your friends. Unless the next facebook update reverts back to its old layout with the bubble faces, you have to get used to the new one.
