I am so sick of the so called social media. I would like my complete privacy back.?
Can anyone tell me how I can erase my identity from the internet. I don't want a facebook account, a mylife account, a twitter account or any other rubbish I may have signed up for in the past. I don't want an email account or any other means of being contacted on the internet. Does anyone know if this is possible and also if all back posts that I have made could be made invisible. Please help. I just want to be alone like it was before the days of computers.

The first thing you can do is purchase a temporary membership with a company that can search your name. It will find you on every social network you have been on in the past 5 years.

Delete any open accounts, and contact by email the owners of the website and inform them that you want every trace of your personal information deleted.

Wait a about 1 week, then use the search software to locate your name again. Search for every name you have ever used.

Notify your business contacts that you have deleted your accounts after you are sure they have been deleted and are no longer on the website owners servers.

Search Software is advertised under different names but the one that might work is spokeo...

I hear you, however, unfortunately LIFE will never be be "like it was before the days of computers". There is no more privacy. If you have a cell phone, you do not have privacy. Writing this post on Yahoo Answers.... no privacy... I HOPE your name is not really Robert. I found that part out years ago when I did a search on my name and saw POSTS on boards that I had left. Nothing I wanted other people to see! So now I have my internet alias (yes, my name is not really Debra)... so that I can ask and answer questions in private.

INTERNET MEANS FOREVER. If there is something about you on the internet that you want to erase. Forget it. Unless you spend mega bucks to try to get it removed, it's useless. I have a horrible accusation/arrest under my name, and my name is very uncommon, so very pissed. At least I'm not young or it would have ruined my life, even though it was a minor infraction because the media blew it out of proportion from what actually happened.

With all the great things the internet gives us, it gives us lack of privacy -- internet or not -- this is the way the world is going with "eye" imprinting, HD color cameras watching your every move. I am old, and thank goodness I won't have a life without privacy, like my kids will. It will be horrible. I already told them how horrible their future will be with all this nano "big brother" watching you.

IT IS NOW 2013. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING. GET USED TO IT.

Very simple solution. Delete all the accounts and e-mail addresses you now have, never visit the internet again or better yet, never turn on a computer again because every activity on the internet can potentially be monitored.
Go out and buy a typewriter (if you can still find one) and lots of envelopes and letters and you'll be all safe and set to be living as in the days before the computer.
