Does joining a Facebook group show up on news feed?

I'm bi and my cousin is gay and he invited me to this gay group on Facebook and I'm not out, will me joining a group show up on my friends' news feed and out me or what?

Yepp, they sure do. I guess they dont appear on your personal wall bacause that would be redundant. But they definitely show up in a news feed. However, it is possible to remove them if you choose to do so.
Click on hide(this button is in front of every news feed) or Simply delete them from your profile..

OR just join the group or post what you want and let facebook publish it as a newsfeed .
now go to your profile page, at the right of the newsfeed of joining of the group or posting, just click on the Remove button and no one will know that you join or post anything.
