Link contact on my HTC Sense Android Eris to Facebook without getting all of my Facebook friends on my phone?

I want my contacts in my phone to be linked to Facebook, but I don't want all of my 500+ Facebook friends in my phone. How can I link just a few contacts while avoiding getting all of my facebook friends linked to my contact list in my phone?
When I go into the phonebook option on Facebook, it won't let me select "Edit List"

There's a couple options...
1. Set facebook to only link contacts that already exist on your phone. You can do that in the facebook app settings.
2. Go to edit your friends details, while on the edit screen press menu > join. From there you should be able to select your friend off your facebook friends list.
