Help with poem!!!!!!10 points for best answer!!!?
His head is a little interior of grey mirrors.
Each gesture flees immediately down an alley Of diminishing perspectives, and its significance Drains like water out the hole at the far end. He lives without privacy in a lidless room, The bald slots of his eyes stiffened wide-open On the incessant heat-lightning flicker of situations. Nightlong, in the granite yard, invisible cats Have been howling like women, or damaged instruments. Already he can feel daylight, his white disease, Creeping up with her hatful of trivial repetitions. The city is a map of cheerful twitters now, And everywhere people, eyes mica-silver and blank, Are riding to work in rows, as if recently brainwashed. Can anyone explain to me the last 2 stanzas of the poem insomniac by sylvia plath. They are there above. And also can anyone just also give a quick analysis overall of the poem. As well as explain to me its point of view? who is the person emily is talking about. Ads |

Writer can't be sure if he is sensing things or whether they are actually happening (he has been awake too long) ie interior mirrors and catching movement out of the corner of his eyes almost hallucinogenic
He hears things too that he can't be sure of..drains like water Lives without privacy.. wants to go to sleep but can't incessant heat-lightning flicker--has occasions of involuntary eye movements with fluttering of eyelids observes many things during the night, cats wandering cries of the night Has been up all night and day is coming. He dreads it and considered it worst than being up all night (the night was not diseased). He considered daily routines of people disgustingly perhaps because he is not (can not be) a part of them. Also, if he could go to sleep he would not know or care what people did. Analysis: Sleep Deprivation is horrible and causes people to unable to function normally because their perception is so altered. Poet is talking to persons in Mental Health Field, Medicine, or to persons who are dealing with insomnia and think it is or that they are going to be alright. She is trying to get help and attention drawn to this problem Ads |
