I need tips & advice for long distance relationship & first date, please?
Im 21 years old and going on my first date with my childhood crush that i use to run around the house with!! =) We liked each other for years but didnt know if we both felt the same way. & we were always scared to approach each other when we got older. We would just smile & say hi haha. But after 11 YEARS! We finally opened up and told our little secret crush that we've been having for eachother. Sad part is he lives in Canada and I live in California. He's coming beginning of March to come see me!! Im so happy yet nervous!! We'll be on our first date! but another sad part is my family doesnt know yet. I want to tell them at the right time. not right now. So that means we have to be sneaky about it. But other then that,,, ANY tips and advice for this first date?? what to wear? Should i give him a small gift? if so, what should i give? Is it appropriate to give him a kiss on the lips on the first date? or should i wait till he makes his next few trips to California? One last question, i really want this relationship to work out but this is my first time ever being in a long distance relationship. ANY tips and advice on how to keep our relationship healthy and have it go on for a long term?

This is my first time. any help will be much appreciated with all my heart. God Bless you all <3

First dates are always awkward, but it seems you two might have memories you want to talk about or what you plan on doing in the future.
Maybe you two could see a move in, or go out, either one would work, or if you have a roller rink in your hometown y'all could go there? anything fun like that.

As for gifts, I wouldn't recommend getting him anything, but if you want to there is no problem with that. Maybe just a little American welcome gift, because he might bring you something from Canada.

What to wear? something casual. its a first date! nothing serious! Smile just dress casual, and if you want to dress up a little, that is fine as well.

I don't like to kiss on the first date to be honest, I like to wait until the time is right, but that is after not knowing them for so long, as where it seems you two have known each other a while. If he isn't going to be in America long, then kiss him! God knows how long it will be until he comes back! Smile

And lastly for a long distance relationship, if you guys have skype or google chat, you two can talk through there as much as you want. Keeping in touch through social media and texting is really nice in this time era. It can work!

Good luck to you both in your relationship! Smile

You were friends as kids so do something you used to do back then. Bike rides, roller/ice skating, going to a gig. It'll be easy, comfortable and you can talk about old times.

You'll know if you should kiss him.

As for the long distance thing. COMMUNICATE! Text. Email. Call. Skype. FaceTime. Letters. Cards. ANYTHING! We used to watch TV together. Both watch the same show while on Skype (it's free over wifi) and share everything. Don't hold back. I actually found it easier to talk to my other half over the phone than face to face for the big things (kids/previous relationships/physical intimacy/money/religion/politics) we've always lived 400miles apart and we could not be closer. We're even getting married now.

This will all be easier than you think.
