How to stop caring about Facebook/Instagram likes?
Before you go and write rude comments (if you were going to) about how I'm just looking for popularity or that I have no life, listen first please.

I've been using Facebook for a while. I've had one since 4th grade (my friend made it for me, even if I didn't want one) and I'd say from 4th to 6th grade I was obsessed with it. It was honestly pathetic. I'd try to go on at every given moment. When I got to 7th grade I started to hate it, I hated that I wasted 2 of my childhood years on this website. But I seemingly couldn't just leave. More and more people I knew made accounts, so I stayed.
Now in 8th grade, (but this applies to 7th grade too) I started caring WAY too much about how much likes I would get. Not only on Facebook, but Instagram as well. The problem is that I see girls my age getting 100+ likes and I'm here dwindling on 15. I need to stop caring, but how? I want to stop thinking so much about how much likes I get on whatever website it is. thanks in advance!

Find activities and create goals outside of the internet that you are really excited about and can get proud of. Spend more time on that and really build on it. Pretty soon you'll find you care about something else much more than you do about whether or not you get "likes".

I have both social media accounts and can relate. I don't even like Facebook but I find myself constantly checking to see how many like a post of mine received. I don't think it's bad to care, only if you care too much. Just try not going on for a couple days, and when you do, keep it short.

Try reading a book of your favorite genre. When I first got a fb I was on all the time couldn't get off but once I was a freshman in high school I started reading a bunch of books I found just piled up in the library and I forgot all about my fb, instagram, twitter, and Tumblr.

create a shitload of accounts and "like" your pics and stuff, eventually youll get bored and stop caring about those useless things.
