Would a closet gay guy say that he's interested in women on Facebook?

There's a guy in my grade who seemed almost undeniably gay to me. He has a very feminine voice and acts extremely flamboyant/effeminate. He hangs around with girls and is constantly laughing in a very feminine way. I was looking at his Facebook profile, though, and he put that he's interested in women. I'm a closet gay, but I just didn't fill in anything for who I'm interested in. Why would a closet gay do this? I'm almost positive he really is gay, so I don't know what to think.
How can I find out for sure if he's truly gay or not, because he is very cute and I might like to develop a relationship with this guy?

A closeted gay guy would definitely do this. Most of the guys at my school who are gay didn't come out until after graduation. Right now, my profile says I'm married to one of my best friends, but yeah, guys do this all the time...

That is the act of being closeted, some people go to greater lengths to make themselves appear heterosexual/normal. Be advised it is not okay to bully boys for having girly voices. Plus it is hard for gay people to trust those around them about being gay, and of course this is to avoid bullying which can endanger their lives. People like they always do their best to appear normal and not gay. When they really are. Just because a guy is around girls a lot and laughs with them doesn't mean that he is not straight. Perhaps he is a great socializer amongst the ladies. A recent study showed that more guy are developing voices similar to females, and of course it does sound sexy/attractive easier to talk to, etc.

1. At least half of effeminate guys are straight. They are often the targets of anti-gay bullying.

2. Many gay people don't want to "flaunt it". Publicly they are straight, but friends know the truth. This way they hope to avoid becoming lightning rods for haters.

3. If you want to know if he is gay, get to know him a little bit, make it clear you are not a hater, and ask him. If he's not worth the trouble there is no reason for you to know the truth.

Either that or not specified. I'm openly gay and have a boyfriend but it's not specified on mine, so there you go on the accuracy of it.

I cannot read his mind so my guess is as good as yours. Also, ever considered the possibility that he's not gay at all? So far, you're going on a hunch and mannerisms do not account for anything either. The bottom line is that you do not know for sure that he's gay, thus don't assume it.

Gays guys who are not out, have said they liked girls through out all of history. If you are only attracted to the same sex, but don't want people to know, and maybe have a fear of what people will say/do if they find out, then you are going to say you like the opposite sex. So many of us have done that. In high school if a guy asked if I thought a girl was hot, I said yes even though I do not find one girl hot in that way. I did it to cover up the fact that I was gay.

So you have a dilemma here. Is someone truly straight, or are they covering it up. You really can never know for sure.
