A guy sends me friend request and then deletes it after few hours?

A friend's friend sends me friend request. All i know about him is we go to same university. He messages me as well say 'u in same university?'. I havent clicked on the message yet so it doesnt say SEEN. I am at work so i thought i will reply him later in the night once i am sure who he is or if i met him before.

Now, i go on facebook again and there is no more the request. Is he trying to seek my attention through it or what?

He might be a player or maybe he likes you. I've send friend request to girls before but then i wanted to delete the friend request because i don't know what they will think about me.
