Facebook and getting hired?
I've heard that some workplaces check their employees' Facebooks or even ask for their passwords, but... I've never had a Facebook (or Twitter, etc.). I'm in college and don't have a job yet but someone told me "If you get hired and tell your boss you don't have a Facebook, they're just going to assume you're lying to them." I also noticed many workplaces have Facebook pages, and while looking at internships, many of the job descriptions included "social network marketing" and similar stuff (not too sure what that means). I'm sure I could figure out how to use the sites if I had to do something on them for the job, but then they might think "Well why don't you have your own?" Do you think Facebook is really important when getting hired, is it better not to have one, and do I really seem like such a liar if I say I don't have an account on there?

If you don't have a Facebook account and they ask about it, tell the truth. If they don't believe you, leave - they are not going to believe you about other things too, and you don't want to work there.
