How do I stop the facebook group chat?

I was part of this facebook group, which like groups have, their own chat. Normally no one talks on it so its never been a problem, but now people are having conversations I'm not a part of. That's cool and all, but it is driving me nuts that the chat window keeps popping up. I've tried unchecking hte chat box in the group settings, I've even tried leaving the group, and yet the chat still pops up. Am I doing something wrong? I want to know how to stop the group chat.
Repeat: I have already UNCHECKED the box and LEFT the group. I just want it gone, I don't want to have to minimize it as a way of tolerating it.
I've done both and it still has not gone away. It keeps popping up. I've tried also signing in and out, and it still pops up.

Try minimizing the window and then unchecking the box...
If that doesn't work, you may want to just unjoin the group.

just go to the group and there you can try managing the settings if not leave the group
