Trust your HTC Wildfire. As far as I know, every HTC has the facebook app.

Facebook is generally safe.

The only issue I've seen is that some of the advertisements have built-in code that when you mouse over it, it automatically runs malware (unless you have a good anti-virus program). When Facebook get's an ad reported, they remove it. But it is rampant with many reputable sites... and with so many ads, it is hard for any of them to keep up with it.

It affects computers, but I have never seen it affect phones.

So my best guess - yes, it's safe for your phone. But I would double-check with your HTC Wildfire help or your phone's manufacturer's site. Just some ideas. Good luck!
