Turning Off/Conserving Data with an Android Phone?
I'm not really sure how to turn off data with my phone.
I just purchased a Motorola Defy from T-Mobile yesterday (it's an android phone) and I unfortunately do not have an unlimited data plan. I was wondering, in order to avoid extra charges, is 3g the data network? I just downloaded an application from the Android market called "Quick Settings" which allows me to turn of 3g. Once I toggle 3g off, the 3g signal icon disappears from the top information bar. I am still able to make calls and text message, but I am unable to access the internet, internet-required applications (such as the Facebook and Twitter applications). I was wondering if this is what I need to do in order to turn off ALL incoming data towards my phone to avoid charges. Thank you!

On my Android phone, I find the settings here....

Menu> Settings> Wireless & Network Settings> Mobile Network settings> Data Enabled (Checked data is on, unchecked data is off).
