Being a server at Fridays OR McCORMICK AND SCHMITZ?
I know i spelled it wrong but...I have been a server before a while back and it was at a retirement home. Ive never been to this "MCCORMICK AND SChmicks place....I think its pretty expensive. I live her in MD And this location is by the water. DO YOU think you wouldmake more AT THAT place or Friday? Have you been to MMCCORMICK? It sounds fancy.Im looking to be more independent. ...Im applying to government jobs but they take a while but in the mean time I HAVE TO WORK . I WANT TO get an apartment. ..although i dont KNOW HOW THE Paystubs are going to look when a leasing agent reviews them because, servers get paid 3-5bucks.Has anyone made a decent amount in tips and saved up and got an apt or half the money to room with someone? I also found an apt 750 two bedrooms. Thats 375 split down tge middle . Thats cheap.

Fridays is lower cost so you will likely get more tables per night but m&s will have fewer tables but higher tabs. I would go to m&s

Check out local grocery stores for more stable paying jobs in the mean time. Some grocery stores are unionized, have pension programs, management training for long term employees, and provide healthcare if you're working full time.

Bartenders make more money than servers, but A job is better than no job so take something while you look for something better.

Check yelp reviews and see how M & S rates where you are. Is it connected to a hotel? Near a busy area? What about Fridays? Go and check them out on a night that you might work there and see how busy they are.

Also if you get a job in a restaurant, post on social media when you're working so you have people coming in. It's shows that you can bring in clientele and "have a following"

Budgeting: Make a budget for how much you will need to put away weekly to cover your rent, and other necessities (cell phone, gas, car insurance, etc) so you can insure that rent is always covered.

EX: Rent: $400
Food: $200
Gas: $100
Car Insurance: $100
Cell Phone: $100
Savings: $100
_________________
$1000/4 weeks= $250 so you would need to put away $250 a week

**I don't know your bills but just giving you an example

Easiest way to find out: Go there yourself and just ask the servers.

It depends where you work. I was a server in one state and made 1600-2000 a month (making an hourly wage of about 3.00, tips are where most of your money comes from). I was working about 30 hours a week. I just moved to CA and people here are really trashy and racist. I work the same amount of hours and am taking home only about 900 a month-and that's mostly because I get paid 8.00 an hour PLUS tips here. I don't know anything about MD, so I don't know how the people are. If it's mostly young, broke, uneducated, racist ghetto people-you're not going to make jack. But if your area is older people that are well off, you might make bank. If you're working 28 hours a week, you shouldn't go home with less than 1000 a month.

Servers can make very good money. Pick the place that's busier and offers more hours. Don't listen to people who say waiters don't make good money. IF YOU'RE GOOD AT IT AND GET INTO A GOOD PLACE, YOU WILL BE FINE.
