Am i overreacting too much?
Ok, today i got my drivers license. I am 16. I decided to be like many teens out there an dpost it on facebook. After i posted it, one of my friends messaged me right after i posted it, that i should remove it, cover info, and repost. I said its ok, but after he said that, he couldnt stop thinking of threats. I read many articles and yahoo answers on the topic and took it down 3 hours after i posted it. Im still worried. Could my identity be stolen during those 3 hours. I know it was stupid and now i know to cover up info next time i do it, so dont pan me on that. I just want a nice answer saying yes or no, i could be in danger or am just overreacting.
Thanks!
yea, my profile is only open to my friends. been that way long time ago. all of my friends are either my classmates or former classmates, as I now go to different high schools.

was it a public post?? do you know everyone who is on your friends list? yes, your identity can be stolen super easy. make all your posts friends only from now on. ther is even an option in facebook privacy settings where you can make all your past posts friends-only with one click.

3 hours is small timeframe but once an image is out there, its forever usually.

you can put the image into google image search or tineye, and see if it comes up somewhere else on the web.

odn't post another dirvers license pic.

IT is a very real danger because you don't know who all saw it, or if anyone saved it and emailed it to someone else or something. you are an ideal target for identity theft because you have no credit record... easier to scam than someone with bad credit. someone can even get arrested using your identity and you will have to deal iwth it.

Probly over reaching. Although anything can happen. There was no social security number, hopefully on the drivers license. Identifty theft usually requires a social security number. So, don't worry. Just don't do that again.

Like many kids do? Why is it necessary to reveal everything on Facebook or other social media? I recommend you research the term: privacy. It is foolish to publish anything as of data value. So kids were so stupid to post evidenced of a crime, rape, and they are now in prison. In legal terms, this is called evidence. Bad people can do tons of stuff by piecing information from different sources. No address, date of birth, license number, photos of your home that can reveal the address, no documents, etc. Worry now is not practical. I doubt if there was someone just watching for that info. Just be smarter as to posting things that have data points or can send someone into the right direction as to identity theft.
