Why do conservatives obsess about people on welfare?

I really don't understand it. I personally have no problem if some of my tax dollars go towards providing social assistance to those who genuinely need it. Conservatives, however, would rather that money be spent on an excessively bloated military budget.
So why exactly are conservatives so outraged that people are on welfare? Why does it bother them so much?
I think there are more important things to worry about

If you lived where I do and saw people selling their snap card accounts for crack and heroine maybe you would grasp the situation.Just saying.Those are the same people who are letting their kids starve to get high.

You just answered your own question:

Well key word is "my." What gives you or anyone else the right to take my dollars?
Also, other key word is "some." The budget for welfare keeps getting larger and larger... until working people have to give up more cash.
2. "Excessively bloated military budget"
At least people in the military are doing WORK for the income they receive. What do people on welfare do? Sit around and watch tv (most do exactly this).

I lived in the hood and I know. Most of them could work but don't want to. They are too busy taking drugs.

Then, according to people like you, we need illegals to fill the jobs these same people could be filling.

Its not so much they oppose people on welfare, it is the fact that people on welfare stay on welfare most of their lives. The average family on welfare receives in benefits about 60,000.00 a year in various forms of assistance. That is more than most of the so called middle class earns by working.
