That is a tough question because you hear so many reports that Celebrities accounts have been hacked into... So I would assume not to believe it until you hear it from reliable source...

It depends upon the celebrity.

Some very famous people update their own accounts exclusively, and you can get a very intimate look into their personal lives.

Others are on Twitter more as a marketing vehicle. You'll get updates on what they're doing and what products or appearances they're promoting, but it could very likely be a hired staffer who posts tweets or Facebook status updates on their behalf.

Trent_Reznor was very famously involved in Twitter to the point where he had very heated emotional exchanges with people who would interact with him there. He is the only person who updates his account, so whatever you see there is coming from Trent.

Guy Kawasaki is a famous lecturer, marketer and internet entrepreneur. Almost none of what appears on his feed comes directly from Guy himself. His Twitter account shows updates appearing even when he's on stage in front of hundreds of people and obviously not tweeting.

For most celebrities, it's probably a mix of the thoughts they want to share, and the information their marketing team recommends they publish.
