girls, am I right to feel this way?
I'm a guy that always believed there's most things guys just do better than girls. I've talked(bragged)to a lot of girls about it too. Well, I watched this one show where this 1 blonde female just uses both legs, aims all of her kicks at a guy's face, her flexibility w/both legs just DESTROYED him, her karate kicks nailed his face repeatedly, both legs. EASILY. Then I found out that she's not just an actress, she actually was a state martial arts champion, and once, actually used her skills to chase down a purse snatcher. There was an article in the news about it. I wrote her on Facebook, telling her how I used to think, but have changed my attitude. I told her what I saw of her, both legs and flexibility to karate kick that high at a guys face with both legs? I'd have been destroyed too. I have NO idea how to avoid her type of karate kicks either. She gave me a positive reply. But there's still a little part of me that's.....humiliated that I don't think I could do a thing against a female knowing the stuff she knows. THAT kind of flexibility? BOTH legs? My face would be destroyed, DAMN!!! And I hate admitting something like that! Ughh, I WISH I could say with confidence I could avoid a female's karate kicks that high, like hers! But I know I can't. Ugh! My ego is damaged pretty good, and I didn't think this would happen. Am I right for feeling that way?

yes, your ego needed to be bruised. I'm not even a feminist, and you don't even have to be one, to know your way of thinking is just incorrect. men aren't better than women at EVERYTHING.

Here's one way you could think about this:

Suppose you were to graph the strength, flexibility, and courage of all the females who are about your age. The graph would probably look rather like the famous bell-shaped curve. Most of them would probably be reasonably fit and brave, while a few would be total wimps and a few would be champions.

Then think of the same process for graphing young men's abilities. Again there'd probably be a bell-shaped curve, but this time the curve would be further to the right than the women's curve. In other words, the average man would be stronger, better trained, and more aggressive than the average woman.

But – if you put both these curves on the same page, and overlapped them, there'd be a small area in the middle where the champion women would be ahead of all but the fittest and strongest men.

It's like Olympic women athletes. You have to admire their inborn ability, plus their dedication and training that got them to the highest level of their sport. You're not about to challenge a martial arts champion to a fight, whether it's a man or a woman.

So you're right insofar as believing that most guys are stronger than most gals. But you don't have to have a dented ego about seeing one woman who has trained her strength, skills, and flexibility to a very high level. She's way out on the right-hand end of that bell-shaped curve, beyond most men, even.

Again? The answer is the same as before. Stop assuming that a female cannot do something as well as a male and stop bragging about the things you think you can do better than a female.
