Because it takes time. NO ONE except Yahoo staff understands WHY this is happening, because Yahoo staff is STILL not explaining WHAT is going on. NO YA community members have knowledge of whether Yahoo is being PAID to post advertising underneath questions or whether there has been a major security breach of Yahoo's email system. If it's an email system glitch, it tales human beings TIME to find WHERE the problem is in the computer program codes to edit the code to FIX the glitches. Take a programming class and find out how long it takes to edit your own programming errors. I've created endless computer command loops to understand how long it takes human beings to find and edit glitches out, and often editing just creates more glitches somewhere else.

AT least the annoying Facebook problem no longer exists.

You might want to take a look at this apology thread on the main suggestion board:

It has nothing to do with e-mail (as another answer states), but as we all know, Yahoo makes their income via advertising dollars, instead of charging us/users to play on their site.

This was obviously not a glitch, but a program that was developed by Yahoo.
Just like all the other internet sites that create revenue via advertisers.
Same as newspapers, network television, magazines, and radio.
Media is driven by advertising viewers... it's just the way it is.

Think about facebook, Google +, etc.
^they are free sites for us, and they ALSO slap ads all over the place.
There was an attempted lawsuit against Google for doing the same, and the highest court in the land (of OZ/Australia) deemed that Google was not liable .
see:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/02/05/...igh_court/

My issue is not the ad/revenue..... Heaven knows that the site can't run for free. And I certainly wouldn't want to pay for it myself. And I think all the employees at Yahoo deserve to get paid for their work. But some of the ads are inappropriate, in my opinion.

some of us have sent screenshots to the team about inappropriate placements. BUT some of also find alot to be completely hysterical.

One fun user has started a thread at the suggestion board for the Humorous ones.
(posted here with the authors permission)

So... in any case, there are ways to work around them if you find them annoying.
You can install an ad-blocker.
I use Mozilla/Firefox browser with "Ad Blocker Plus"

But honestly, they are rather humorous so I turned the ad blocker off.
I have trained my eyes to ignore ads most of the time anyways. Smile

Anyways.. I hope this helps y'all understand it.

Cheers.
