How can i stop people messaging me on facebook?

Some one keeps sending me abusing messages on facebook. The messages goes straight into my 'others' folder. The person deactivates there account before i get a chance to reply. Everytime i report the messages the person keeps making a new fake account. Is there a way i can stop people that arent my friend from emailing me without adding me as a friend first?

Thats Not Possible Anymore They Use to Have the Option to Make it So that Non Friends Cant Message you But Facebook Removed That the Closest Option you Can Get is Set it So That Messages Go to the Other Folder Which you Can Set the Strict Filtering Option From the Lock Option Under Who Can Contact Me

If you're receiving unwanted messages, you can:

1.Move them to your Other folder
2.Change your filter preferences
> Go to your Other Inbox
> Click Edit Preferences
> Select Basic or Strict filtering
> Click Save
3. Block the sender

only these facilities are provided by facebook yet.

Can't you block the accounts? My facebook currently lets me block people who are not my friends, then they can't message or see you. I don't know if there is a way to block messages from anyone outside your friends, but the way my facebook is right now my other folder doesn't even notify me if I got messages there, I can only see them if I am specifically looking in there. Maybe you can also turn off the notifications for that. Besides reporting messages you can report profiles for being fake. What's amazing is this person has enough of an obsession with you to waste that much time on these accounts.. They must be jealous or something, take it as a compliment. Don't even reply it doesn't help anything.
