A few questions about my Android G1?

I just bought a G1 off of a friend; this is the second one I've had and I'm already experiencing problems...the Facebook app is nowhere to be found in the Market, it is at Firmware 1.0 (is this the newest? I can't remember) and apps randomly do not install from my SD card and some apps crash directly after I open them. Any suggestions?

the phone is at firmware 1.0....that outdated
current G1 runs 1.6
do a reset
settings>privacy>factory reset
or do a hard reset hold power and home and do a clear memory
than open the phone go to setting and about phone and than system update.
Facebook app right now isnt working, hasn't been since Monday, i have a nexus one with froyo
G1 has a low memory so download a app to kill apps running in background and kill all apps when done
download a app called Tas killer, has a nice widget and runs smoothly
this phone might be rooted and might have a custom rom, check with the person and update the rom to the newest rom.....since 1.6 does not allow apps to be saved on SD card.....only a rooted G1 can do that right now.
