I havent heard of a conspiracy. Here's the basic truth: Facebook takes all of your information and sells it, breaks it up and sells it to market researchers.

Facebook owns your pictures, and can sell them, your face might be on a billboard somewhere in another country, or on a porn site, whatevers.

Facebook is very good at predicting you, you would be very surprised what you can predict about a person. That is how they adapt the adverts on the page to things you might actually be interested in, for instance they wont advertise a product that isnt availible in your country.
