im from chile and now im going to live to the usa. so im excited on getting a new phone and i was thinkinng on paying 650 us dollars for the galaxy s2, but if the iphone 5 is realesed on october, is it WORTH to wait 2 months without a smartphone and buy the iphone 5 OR just buy the galaxy s2, and wich is better, applestore or android market? cause im new on the android, never had any android phone, just iphones! so please help me, and i had an iphone 4g, all day playing and things, so if i buy a galaxy s2, should i be more entertained buy the galaxy than the iphone 4? The Android is just a software. it's like the IOS. (It runs The iPhone) so the android runs different phones. while there are dozens from different companies, and are released like every 6 months or so, Apple only has like really 3 phones. (the iPhone original, the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs is the same phone just upgraded, like the iPad to the ipad2) and then there's the iPhone 4. so wait for the iPhone 5 Smile

the Galaxy S II is a little bit faster. the Galaxy has a dual core 1.2ghz processor and the iphone 5 will have a dual core 1ghz. It wont be a noticable difference but if u get the Galaxy then u can say u literally have the fastest phone in the world. the Galaxy has an 8mp camera with 1080p recording. the iphone 5 might not have that. probably will but might not. The Galaxy has 1024mb or RAM which is amazing and the iphone 5 will probably only have 768mb.

Id say get the Galaxy S II. U can get it now and its a little bit faster then the iphone 4. Android has less apps then iphone but most of the big and fun apps are on both platforms. Some are even on windows phones. i have a great time with android apps. ive seen a couple apps the iphone has and android doesnt. but ive also seen a couple apps that iphone doesnt have that android does. Its up to u. but the galaxy S II is the FASTEST just saying

I would say wait till the 29th to see if the Galaxy is going to be released into the US sometime next month or a little after, both of these phones will have dual core processors, we already know what the Galaxy S2 looks like in other parts of the world, but it will most likely look different in the US (or not). I personally like android better, but its up to you which you will choose. I would just compare specs if you can wait that long and see which one offers more and where they offer it. I almost forgot to mention that there is also the Nexus Prime coming out too, maybe in october? I dont really know, but it will have ice cream sandwich and most likely amazing specs.

well seen as apple is copying android for the iphone5, just get the galaxy.

galaxy s2 over iphone(any)
has more free apps
turn-by-turn GPS
better battery life (proven)
better and larger screen
widgets
here is a big one, add a sd card
better calls
better camera
more customizable
more powerful hardware
flash support, watch ALL the online videos
worlds thinnest Smartphone at 8.49mm

apps; the android market has really improved in quality and quantity over the past few years, and is now up to par with apples app store, and is rumored to actually surpassed it later this year. another plus for the android market is that its open source and the majority of the apps are free. And do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone
another great thing about android as that if you dont like something (keyboard, homescreen, etc.) it can easily be swapped without jail-breaking, unlike the iphones one-size-fits-all approach.

also don't listen iphone lovers that say Samsung bad at making electronics. what apple fans don't realize is that Samsung produces the screen, processor and memory for apple products so Samsung clearly has the advantage here. The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

And the iphones “retina display” is a huge scam. By definition a ‘retina display’ is one where the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels. But this is determined by several factors; most important being the distance between the screen and your eyes. The iphones retina distance is 12in, move any closer than that- say 7in and it’s no longer a “retina screen” because your eyes can now see the pixels, by that same token, if I move my android phone back, to say 16-17in, amazingly, it becomes a retina screen as well! (feel free to google this)

Also apple never invents anything, there never “the first”. All they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as “magical” and “innovating”, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power.

Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-i...are-2011-4

Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Ap...e22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple can’t sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they weren’t,(Nokia fist touch screen, “archos” first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, “the rounded icon corners” and “having a flat screen” or “the square shape of the phone”……..

To top it all, if you’ve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/news/fiv...to-google/

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/06/app...e-arrival/
1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen
5. Tabbed browsing

And not only are they copies, but apple didn’t even bother to improve, or change some of them in any way- some even have LESS features than their android counter parts, it’s basically a cheap imitation with the ever-popular iphone skin.
According to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since 2007 will be available on IOS5, and it would not surprise me to see some more android features from 2008 on IOS6.But the truly sad part is that due to apples marketing, in a few months, apple lovers will really think that apple invented those features and call android the copycats…yet again

Nobody knows for certain what the specs of an iPhone 5 will be. We do, however, know what the specs of a Samsung Galaxy S2 are and they are arguably better than an iPhone 4. Plus, Android vs iOS is a personal preference.

Why not buy the Samsung Galaxy S2 and sell it in two or three months if you deem the iPhone 5 to be better?

@wheatly - spot on excellent post. I have an iPhone 3g and I am getting the S2. Another thing is voice commands/voice recognition will NOT be on the iPhone 5 like everybody thought. Android has it thoughtout the OS and the S2 has say n go, together they make a baddass voice package. Also Apple does copy a lot, they copied the iPod from Kane Kramer, copied the MacOS "dock" from Acorn computers, Was sued by Burst.com and settled for the technology used in the iPod and iTunes, copied the iPhone from LG Prada, NeoNode, and Samsung F700, copied parts of iOS (like swipe to unlock etc) from NeoNode, Sued by Nokia and settled for patents related to GSM and UMTS standards as well as 802.11 WiFi technologies, Sued by Cisco and settled for using the "iPhone" name, copied the Finder icon from a Picasso painting titled “Two Characters”, copied the App Store from Jailbreak/Cydia, Sued by Personal Audio and lost for patents related to playlist implementation on the iPod. Apple was ordered to pay Personal Audio $8 million. Was sued by Mirror Worlds and lost for patents related to Cover Flow, Time Machine, and Spotlight features found in Mac OS X and iOS. Apple was ordered to pay $625.5 million to Mirror Worlds. And copied Android features that include Notifications, Wireless syncing, Tabbed browsing, New split keyboard, Open apps from the lock screen, and Over the air updates. If you have a raspberry beret, and like sipping your java mocha cappuccino and talking on a "fashion accessory" get an iPhone. If you want power and features, get the S2!
