My daughter plans to become a radiologist, what Bachelor degree would be best?
My daughter is currently a junior in high school and plans to become a radiologist (specifically for pediatrics if possible). She is trying to determine the best major to pursue, as many colleges and universities require a pre-med to specialize, such as in biology or ? I would like suggestions from practicing radiologists. What did you study/what would you recommend?

In the chance you don't get a response from a Radiologist, I think a good resource is the Association of American Colleges website, they have a lot of great information for aspiring doctors, to include undergraduate degrees, and how the process works for being accepted into med school....they also have a FAQ section https://www.aamc.org/students/aspiring/ If she is on twitter, she may also want to follow them on twitter to get information routinely.
I have been on that website before, and from what I saw as long as the student takes their pre-req course requirements for med school.....the undergrad degree really doesn't matter. I am not a doctor, but my thoughts are to always have a back up plan in the event she cannot get into medical school right away. It is always good to choose an undergraduate degree where you have a sense of what jobs you can do if graduate school doesn't happen right away. So, for example, if she does choose biology....important to have a sense of what jobs she may qualify for with that degree. Ads |
