I'm seeing it a lot. I met someone as young as 14, saying their suffering from depression. Im not sure if they were lying, or just want attention. I also search on social media and see a lot of these sad, self harm, depression pages.
What can be the cause of this?
I myself have ocd, and have been depressed but I'm in my late teens.
Any thoughts?

I definitely notice it too, I think its the stress and expectations that are put on us at such a young age by media, family, teachers, all the individuals around us. Not only expected to go to school, but be an amazing student not only for ourselves, but in comparison to other as well and still live a life similar to what we deem perfect e.g. lots of friends/being popular, getting good grades, accomplishing stuff later in life

Yes, a very big percentage of young people are now depressed. Sad They aren't always seeking attention or lying; some of them really do feel this way. Masochism is a big problem (I used to do it myself, but have stopped), and nobody knows for sure what causes depression. Bullying, abuse/neglect at home, stressed out, or even genetics, who knows? I also think too many of them just bottle it up and don't seek the help that could change their lives.

Nope. Depression in young teens is common, always has been and always shall be as it is the awakening of a person's sense of reality with relation to the outer world which drives it. It's called a lot of things but mostly puberty.
