Should i buy cheaper Ginger Bread or ICS phone?

Now jellybean is out should i buy ginger bread or ICS phone as they are cheap.
I am planning to use the phone for 2 year and i want it to support basic apps like whats app,instagram,skype ,messengers and some regular games. I am not hardcore gamer.

My fear is that if apps would stop working with the Andriod version i have if i buy these phones.

I have a galaxy s2 which is a great little phone with ics but will be getting the jelly bean update within the next few weeks so i'd recommend it from experience. I heard the cheaper ace2 will be getting the update too, it's on gingerbread just now though.

ICS since it's newer

I would at least get the newer ice cream sandwich, because even if you pick the best handset up in two years it really is showing its age so one that is running gingerbread is gonna be a antique in a couple of years.
Get the newest decent handset you can afford would be my advice to you.
