Does Facebook suggest friends based on who has stalked you on facebook?

I recently read an article that said that you can tell who's stalking you on facebook by the friends suggestions and by the names that pop up when you type in a search. True?

Facebook just has those suggestion names by let's say you time in I go to this school, then they will find other people that go to that school. It can also be by what friends your friends have.
Lets say my friend has a friend named sandwhich that goes to the school I typed in, they may put it in the suggestion box.

Ehhhhhhh kinda sorta not exactly.

First off it depends on what you mean by "stalking." If by that you mean that a person merely searched your name, then yes that does get factored in to the friend suggestions. But to me it's not truly "stalking" unless they obsessively try to find out information about me that I didn't make public. But that's just me.

And like I pointed out above, people who searched your name is a *factor* that goes into the friend suggestions, but it's not the only factor. The system also looks at who is on the friends list of your current friends, who lists their school or workplace the same as yours, who frequents the same places you do, etc etc etc.

It's a complicated equation with a lot of variables. Just because someone shows up on the suggestion list doesn't automatically mean they're stalking you or even looking for you.

Facebook suggests friends of friends as people you may know. Also it draws from pages you like too. I'm sure you can find a stalker in there somewhere...
