Is Facebook just one gimungous Opinion Poll?

Will politicians soon campaign on "Like me on Facebook", like coffee and other consumer products already do?
Does Facebook replace Gallup and the other surveys and opinion polls?

Kinda. Some people have quotes or some other fact on their page to back up their 'likes', but since a person can just 'like' a page and not have any real reason to offer their support or they are simply using the 'like' button to make it easier to follow, it's not very reliable.
I wouldn't be surprised if a politician bragged about having x number of likes on his/her page, regardless of why they do.
