Help can I find my dad and family?
So basically I have a deadbeat dad as a father. now I'm older I want to know more about my other family members and stuff and I haven't met any of them except my brother ; I know one of my grandparents is for sure born in wales but I'm pretty sure both of them are , but idk there names. I know one other family members name and I found my dad's birth certificate and social security number and one address he used to live at . Is there a way to tract him so I can get some answers?
his birthcertificate is the "short" one

* I'm canadian, so I'm not expecting any information from the uk*

I found my dad's birth certificate.............and on it should be both his parents names ...unless it is the short birth cert, in which case you need to apply for his full birth cert which you can get from the GRO, costs £9.25 which will give you both their names........once you have that then you can research back http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Really depends on when he was born if prior to 1984 then you could look on freebmd and see if you can find him on the index, that would give you your grandmothers maiden name and then you can search for their marriage........ http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Livig people have privacy rights so it is never very easy looking for living people....and you would
have to look online at social media maybe 192.com which are elctoral rolls and phone book ( which you have to pay credits for .....you may fid other links on here that help http://familytimeline.webs.com/adoptionl...ations.htm

Add: Then why put born in Wales without adding Canada on a world wide forum, Wales is a country in the UK

If you know the SSN, the SSA will forward a letter to the address they have for a person. The address may be bad, and the person is under no obligation to respond to it. Complete details:
http://www.ssa.gov/foia/html/ltrfwding.htm

It starts: "We will attempt to forward a letter to a missing person under circumstances involving a matter of great importance, such as a death or serious illness in the missing person's immediate family, or a sizable amount of money that is due the missing person. Also, the circumstances must concern a matter about which the missing person is unaware and would undoubtedly want to be informed. (Generally, when a son, daughter, brother, or sister wishes to establish contact, we write to the missing person, rather than forward a letter from the relative.) . . . "
