Do my friends on facebook see when I add someone?

I want to add someone on Facebook,but I don't want my friends or other people to see that I added her. Is that possible ? If yes, how?

Make your friends list private.

Go to your friends list: Profile > Friends

You'll see a button on the right side of the screen that looks like a pencil. Click that, then click Edit Privacy

A box will pop up and next to where it says Who can see your friend list? choose Only Me from the drop-down menu.
