why do i get notifications when people post on facebook?
I receive notifications from my Facebook friends that aren't on any 'close friends list', or any other sort of list. It is not bothering me at all, but it is fascinating in a creepy way that Facebook has collected data based upon interactions and profile views to feed more Facebook connections.
Is it based upon interactions because it notifies me when my close friends (in real life, not Facebook) post? Strange part is it also notifies me when a few crushes posts on Facebook also.
Is Facebook going to extra lengths to re-connect me to my friends, but also spark something with my crushes?
Or is this got something got to do with the PROMOTE option people can use on their posts, so then it notifies the people they interact with the most, and people who Facebook stalk them also??

When you accept a friend request, you can allow them to be in your news stream. On iPhone, this can be disabled by going to the iPhone's settings app, then to notifications, Facebook, and then press none.
