Calm down. Maybe that person accidentally put your email instead by misspelling a word or something. Who knows, but it really isn't a big deal.

I make up random email address when signing up for some things to avoid spam. The person that signed up with your email probably did the same thing.

well, try to remember, which PC´s you have used to login on any of your log ins, ex. msn, yahoo or facebook, all the systems, is known for the weakness for viruses and bots, I have cases with my Friends every week. Facebook´s weakness is all the apps which they don´t control for spyware, the second problem with FB is the fact that nearly all on use linking a lot of crap to Friends, that fact. stands for at least 75% of all malware attacks on FB. My impression so far with yahoo is that they so far have got writhe of the most crap, but that still is a fact, that yahoo is the hackers and other cheaters favourite E-mail addresses. Msn weakness is that is the first system a newbie pc user will use to get online contact, until the user know how to act, all Friends on your list are vulnerable for bots and mass Attack of viruses

Change your email password, just in case it's being hacked. You should have got a notification when the other person joined facebook, look through old emails.
The sign in page on facebook has an option in case you forgot your FB password. Click on it, and type in your email address. You will get an email allowing you to reset your password. Do that, and sign in to facebook with your email address and new password. If it was someone else, they won't be able to access that account anymore.

I can't believe how much hacking goes on online, or certainly why.

To add to the suggestions of others such as changing your password, can you check both of those accounts on the edit page and see if you have linked your gmail and yahoomail at any time?

I do agree that if anyone has used your email address, facebook should have sent a notification to your address. Unless it is possible to have the same address with a different password.

Also facebook does make lots of errors. Many people I know have deleted accounts because of it.
