Me and this guy were good friends back in high school/middle school but we lost touch.

Recently I've been seeing him on Facebook all depressed and he keeps deleting his account. One of our mutual friends told me that he's been going through a rough time because he just got out of a 2 year relationship.

So I messaged him on Facebook when he reactivated his account. We talked about school and our old friends and his relationship, I just got out of a three year relationship so I understand
he invited me to some of his parties. I gave him my number so we could keep in touch in case he deleted his profile again.

He texts me immediately and the first thing he asks me is if I ever had a thing for him...

so I was honest and told him I did and basically we found out that we both liked each other a lot in school but never said anything because we didn't want to ruin the friendship.

He told me he wanted to kiss me on new years and since I was out of town at the moment he told me maybe some other time?

so on new years we were texting and he asked if I was back in town yet because he wanted to cuddle with me?

so I was drunk and I text him back asking is cuddling all you want to do with me?

I was really trying to say would you ever date me/ do you still have a thing for me or is this just a friendly flirty thing. I didn't mean anything sexual by it and I explained that the next day when I sobered up but he never text me back?

So a the a day later he text me at 2am asking if I wanted to come over? I couldn't so I said wish I could but I can't. and he never text back??

is he looking for a hookup? or what? why didn't he respond to my previous message?

How can I tell him that I do like him but i'm not interested in being his rebound or hookup and if he doesn't seriously like me I would much rather him be my friend the way we used to be and not disrespect me by using me like a hookup? but I cant tell what he wants from me

Most likely best if you don't go over to his house at 2am. Do something together to enjoy eachothers company and to get to know him better. If you just rush into things quickly, it will backfire.
