need help in creative thinking please?
In the last few years, the use of blogs, wikis, and other types of sharing Web sites (such as YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and so on) has become increasingly popular as a means of expressing oneself and spreading news, opinions, or ideas. What kinds of habits that hinder thinking must we guard against when using with these types of online media?

I am not sure if the term habit is covered in this but certainly, I would think it a hinderance to creative and self realised thinking in accessing media. So to the "habit" of perhaps accepting it is correct, just cos it is on a web site.

The ability to think for ones self and accept the limitations of the new media in relationships as in " My friend" on facebook.

Thinking can be hindered by the instant ability to post up ideas - without the clear thought that may come with having to express clearly one's own ideas first.

The emerging social media will often have the most popular or most broadcast version of an idea or opinion - tweet or retweet etc but this does not confirm that opinion as correct or indeed that opinion as based on fact.

It simply means that more people with that opinion access the media.

The vast resources that the new media offer can stiffle thinking and creative thought as with just a click we can access so many differant thoughts all be it the thoughts of others.

You tube can of course have spoof vids that appear to portray a situation but it is a camera trick or mock up and many can fall for it.

The ability not only to seperate fact from fiction but the ability to critically analyse fro one's self - for example the viral marketing and promotion vids and tweets that companies pay for in order to promote thier products.

The instantaneous access to broadcast is also a danger as many have found out of late - A msg on facebook or a tweet - in a flash can have fallout - but if the same folks sat down and had to write the same thing - they would realise it was offensive or silly and that no one would be interested.

Good question -

Hope my answer helps
