How can i speak to a friend that i haven't spoke to in about 7 years?

Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can speak to a old friend that I haven't spoke to in about 7 years and im to nervous to say hi on Facebook messages to him and I don't really know why im nervous?

Assuming you just drifted apart and there wasn't a reason you haven't talked in seven years I would just say "hey, I came across your Facebook page. it's been a long time, how are you doing?

I recently came across a friend that I have not spoken to in almost 20 years and that's what I did.
