and i signed off facebook and when i went there again at a different time and different window, they still have my picture up as an ad on that website.

i am really scared.

You may need to opt out of Beacon and/or Facebook Connect. Try this:

Login into Facebook and click Settings in the top right corner. Select Privacy Settings from the drop-down menu.

Click the Applications link, then click the Settings tab. About halfway down the page, you should a couple checkboxes:

-- Don't allow friends to view my memberships on other websites through Facebook Connect.

-- Don't allow Beacon websites to post stories to my profile. Learn more.

Click the check boxes here and press Save at the bottom of the screen.

Good luck!

The settings posted above are correct. I would go further. Your image has been used not only without your knowledge, but, also without your permission.

I would complain about this to the Advertising Standards Commission. You can do that here.

http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/how_to_complai...ints_form/

Also, if you want to surf the web without seeing ads, you can get Adblock Plus.
Here's how.

Firstly, it only works in Firefox. Internet Explorer does not have this feature.

If you do not have Firefox already, you can get it for free here: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/

Once you have Firefox installed, you can get Adblock Plus here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

Installl it, close Firefox down, then re-open it.
