I heard this works as follows...Log on to Face Book and then dump a gallon of water on your computer. From what I gather, you will never be able to log on again.

Try going onto your account settings, which wil be found next to home, profile, account.
A list of options should appear, simply scroll down and right at the bottom of the list it will have the option of deactivating your account. That should work |

You can't delete your account, facebook basically owns your account, but you can de-activate it so you can't sign in.
Account > Account Settings > Deactivate > Follow The Steps > BAM:] |

I want to permanently delete my account. How do I delete my account?
If you deactivate your account from the "Deactivate Account" section on the Account page, your profile and all information associated with it are immediately made inaccessible to other Facebook users. What this means is that you effectively disappear from the Facebook service. However, if you want to reactivate at some point, we do save your profile information (friends, photos, interests, etc.), and your account will look just the way it did when you deactivated if you decide to reactivate it. Many users deactivate their accounts for temporary reasons and expect their information to be there when they return to the service. If you do not think you will use Facebook again and would like your account deleted, please keep in mind that you will not be able to reactivate your account or retrieve any of the content or information you have added. If you would like your account permanently deleted with no option for recovery, log in to your account and then submit your request by clicking here. |

It's impossible to delete it perminently. I simply deactivated mine by clicking on the account/settings link.
By doing this, your facebook disappears and no one is able to search for you and you no longer show up as anyone's friend, etc. But if you ever decide to want your facebook back, you just simply log back on as yourself, and then it reactivates as if you never deactivated it in the first place. |

Here is a link to permanently delete your Facebook account. http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php...te_account
Do not try to log in to the site using the account after deletion. After a few days you will no longer have the option to re-activate your account and your account will be deleted. |
