Would a Jehovah’s Witness be disfellowshipped for becoming an internet sensation?
For example, twenty-year-old Jen Selter has become an Internet sensation after posting some of her workout pictures on Instagram. The Long Island native has gained a massive following of more than 2 million users.

If Ms. Selter were one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, would she be disfellowshipped from the Christian Congregation or merely labeled a bad association?

Not necessarily. It depends upon what the internet sensation is about. If a person were within the laws of God, then they're good.

When you have to take off your clothes to become "an Internet sensation", it would be a befouling of a person's claim to worship the Holy God Jehovah.

IF she were one of Jehovah's Witnesses, only her husband would ever see her "undressed" in that manner.

what did she do. Nothing that is objectionable. There are a few well known Jehovah's witness'. So in the Bible if you can find a reason state it.

I looked up the link you posted, it seemed while some of the photos are geared toward Fitness and conditioning, others are a bit provocative and is best saved for the husband and not the public. Considering the world we live in now with so many men oggling at women's bodies the wrong way or viewing women as sex objects, it would be more discreet not to display her body too much. I'm not saying people shouldn't wear appropriate athletic gear for Gym, Power-walking, strength training, marathons, or Long distance running, etc. Only that one should be mindful of what they wear, and it's wise not to over display one's body too much online.

Jehovah's witnesses are not barred from using the internet, FB, or Y!A, a christian want to use those device properly and with right motives. Some may choose to use FB, twitter, or Youtube, to keep in touch with friends and relatives, others may choose to use Instagram to display artwork or garden plants for sale, or family photo. It is up to them. However, there's a caution to be discreet and the bible is only right in telling women to dress modest and dress properly.

Maybe Miss Selter wants to inspire fellow Americans to lose weight, she may have good motives but posting anything a little too flashy should be avoided since we currently live in a very immoral world that focus on sexuality and body parts.

Don't get me wrong, I run regularly (20+ miles per week), and I pop weights @ home. But I still attire myself appropriately. I respect my body and the focus is on the workout, not posting photos online or anything like that (like showing off, No). Women do need to wear good/fitting exercise bra when lifting weights, doing push-ups, aerobics, and such. So it's up to each woman (or christian woman) to decide on what attire is appropriate. Sure, I may look great in my work out attire, but my personal reasons is not because of showing off or posting those pics online (or getting 2,000,000 followers). Some people may feel that showing their bodies is necessary to be popular or to be accepted, but it is different with a christian whose conscience is trained by the bible.

(This is usually what I wear when working out, runner's tights, either T-shirt with arm sleeves, or long sleeve sweater, & ASICS trainers) Modesty is the best policy ;-)

Your questions: Would a Jehovah’s Witness be disfellowshipped for becoming an internet sensation?
Answer: No. But would a christian woman wants those type of attention by posting pictures with porvocative attire or undies? I don't think so.

Many actors and musicians are Witnesses. Many of those are on the internet. Are they internet sensations? Most are popular without the internet.

There are also Witnesses who finance their ministry with blogs online. Some will have pictures of themselves. But nothing sexually explicit.

That being said. Ms. Selter's photo's for the most part are not sexually explicit. Though there are a few that would be considered "loose conduct" which is something the elders would definitely talk with her about and see what her reaction would be. Maybe there is a specific reason for those photos that some of us are not aware of, or maybe she is directing her photos to women. In which case those photos would not be inappropriate to that particular audience.

It is not up to us to decide her motives. I am certainly not going to judge because it is not place to do so.

I doubt if she would be disfellowshipped. Because I think once the elders would share some scriptures from the Bible she would take those photos off her website, or put up a notice that the website is for women.

Thank you so much for showing us these pics. We would like to say that if Paul were present today and saw these pictures, his senses might become aroused and he would undoubtedly object to them. As far as being disfellowshipped, most likely not UNLESS she continues to pose in such a manner even after bible counsel from the Elders.

By the way, we saw some more of her pics and they do not appear to be very christian like at all.

1Tim 2:9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes....

There you go Teller

Only if she was not repentant ie boldfaced, didn't care and sort of: shrugs the shoulders with: who the heck cares and so what if I turn people on etc etc.

Those pictures are not work out; they are pornographic without clothes being taken off! A deliberate: look at me and drool and I know I am hot! Which naturally, is hardly a chrstian way of behaving!

Why specifically Jehovah's Witnesses?
