Is A&E Happy to Profit From Christians, but Appalled by Morality?

It’s safe to say that the executives of A&E got more than they thought they were bargaining for when they hired the “Duck Dynasty” crew.
The Robertson family, which made its fortune from making and selling hunting gear, including a hot-selling duck call, is what A&E and the Left consider rednecks. That is to say, they work hard, like hunting, have beards and quote the Bible.
A&E thought it was producing a comedy. Instead, millions of viewers fell in love with the Robertsons and even wished their own families could be more like them.
While the A&E executives were more than happy to reap the profits from the show, the strong Christian theme running through “Duck Dynasty” can’t have set well with the network’s liberal overseers.
In fact, Phil Robertson had been warned prior to his now infamous GQ interview to “tone it down” on discussions about certain topics liberals can’t abide, such as sin, homosexual immorality and moral standards in general.
A friend of the family who asked to remain anonymous told the Daily Mail that a representative of A&E was present at the interview and didn’t at any time try to intervene or control the situation. But as soon as the interview was published, the network issued a statement against Phil Robertson’s comments and putting him on “hiatus.”
“It is our belief that they knew what was going to happen and then used the situation to exercise control over Phil,” the family friend said.
The network made its decision to hang Robertson out to dry reportedly after a telephone conversation with GLAAD, the homosexual activist group. The word has gotten out to the Left-wing media, which is characterizing Robertson’s comments as homophobic and even racist after the NAACP chimed in.
Representatives of GLAAD said that their group has felt an unprecedented backlash for their role in Robertson’s suspension. “In the five-and-a-half years I’ve worked at GLAAD, I’ve never received so many violently angry phone calls and social media posts attacking GLAAD for us speaking out against these comments,” said vice president of communications Rich Ferraro.
That backlash has come even from some liberals, such as atheist lesbian author Camille Paglia, who characterized the suspension as “fascist.”
The family issued its own statement that said, in part, “While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Phil would never incite or encourage hate.’
Homosexual groups have blasted Robertson’s comments as “hateful,” but they weren’t by any reasonable standard. The entire reaction to his words is based on the Left’s intolerance, not Robertson’s.
What’s got the Left so frazzled is that so many Americans can see through the liberal whining and support Robertson’s right to express his beliefs.
What upsets liberals so much is that more and more Americans are laughing at them, not at the Christian rednecks

No. Equating consensual sex between adults to raping animals is not morality.

Conservatives are the ones who are appalled by morality, proven by their slander of the pope for suggesting "trickle down" economics is not morally right.

I've heard a lot of speculation about why A&E didn't have had a representative in the interview to run interference. I find it interesting to know that they did.

Perhaps it was an effort to leverage Phil and get more control. I wouldn't be surprised if A&E had contacts in GLAAD.

They're only pretending to be appalled.

This is all a huge publicity stunt for everybody involved.

Ah, first you Cons gave us reverse racism, now we're gifted with reverse intolerance! Intolerance of my intolerance is the TRUE intolerance! How sad that there's people who actually believe that.

I can't believe you buy a blog when simple common sense will tell you this whole scenario spiked their ratings through the roof.

Robertson is free to expound on HIS morality. The rest of us are free to disagree with him and not have our disagreement judged as LACK of morality by the likes of you.

And A&E is free to do whatever makes them the most money.

You need to read the article, hon, instead of a right-wing spin.
