How should I play 'my cards' with this girl?

Their is this girl who used to like me at school, she asked her friend to ask her out with me but I said no because I never knew where I stood when wanting a girlfriend. Now I am looking for a girlfriend, she added me on Facebook, so I decided to send her a little message saying hey and catch up on stuff, her responses are very short but she does keep the conversation going by saying 'you' for example: ''I am fine thanks, you?''. I decided I will try and see where things end up with this girl again, but not rush things, so I need to know how to play my cards, for example, I spoke to her today, should I wait a day before messaging her again? We no longer go to the same school, we are both at different colleges, so I can only speak to her on Facebook.

So any advice on how I could play 'my card'?

Stop being childish.Looking to play silly games is so dumb.Just ask her out,why cant you ? Leave all the silly facebook stuff and see her face to face and ask her.Arrange to meet her in person.

Maybe she is confused as to why you are messaging her after all she did show interest in you and got nothing back in return. out of school relationships work so much better anyway so i guess from a teenage girls perspective you just need to be straight with her we really hate it when guys beat around the bush so tell her you want to take her out on a date. then if she agrees tell her you are interested in her in that way and after the date see where things go. If you rely on facebook or social media it wont work trust me i know
