Why is Facebook over-rated? There's nothing special about it. Can anybody clarify?

It is a social networking site similar to Myspace (which I think fell off and is sooooooooo old). There's nothing different and better about Facebook, in fact I still think Myspace is better. Why is there empty hype when there isn't any creativity and uniqueness in Facebook? In Myspace you can do much more things. Also Facebook used to be exclusively for college kids, but now I heard they let everybody in.
There's nothing unique about Facebook.
Svabaren, I heard about that today on Charlie Rose. About how Facebook doesn't make people's information secret.

There is something unique about Facebook. I find it weird that most don't care about it though.

FaceBook sells your private information to other companies for profit. Go sign up and read the terms of service. They even state it in there.

This isn't a conspiracy theory these are mere facts. You can
read about it in your privacy policy when you sign up. Not to mention the countless articles about it on the internet. FaceBook is not secretive about it either. They have said the same thing in several medias too. It is the price for using their site. Anything you put in your profile you basically agree they can use no matter how private. There is no on/off switch towards Facebook itself just other users. Thats exactly where the problem lies.

Then there is the thing about the tracking cookie you also get from going to their site.

Microsoft has bought assets in FaceBook for about 240 Million Dollars simply because your private information is priceless when it comes to marketing information. What Moves and Grooves amongst the youth today products wise and what sites they frequent

Although it's intentions of networking fellow students is nice, it generates it's revenue from selling marketing based information generated from whatever you submit to the site. It's true what they say, "Good intentions pave the road to hell."

Some users prefer Facebook because of it's simple to use interface and clean pages. Users can't change colors and whatnot so information is displayed the same.

FACEBOOK used to the the ISH when randoms couldn't join and it was just college students. It was great to network with old friends of high school, middle school, and elementary. It was easier finding people because you could see how your friends knew that person, IE: went to elementary school together. You knew that if that friend went to elementary school with you, you'd know that friend.

Now that anybody can join facebook and they added all those stupid minifeeds and applications it's gone down terribly!!

I don't feel like vampire sucking on my neck, I'm tired of being a victim!
