Would it be creepy to facebook my bf's ex coworker?

We're early 20s and he's in his 40s, married and with kids. He was one of our favorite people in the entire company and then suddenly quit to work at the shop across town. It's been a couple weeks now, and I was just wondering if you think it'd be weird to send him a message and invite him out for a beer. We live in the same town, and he's gone out with other coworkers since, but we just don't have his number.

I'm probably overthinking this... But he was a really nice guy, and it'd be sad to see him disappear.
