virus problem on facebook?
hey guys. everytime i sign onto facebook, the facebook chat opens up on the bottom right and sends this message to everyone that is on:

My friend showed me this website that is giving away free $500 macy gift cards. I got mine so it's real. go here himacyscard.com

or this one:

whoa.. this is real... i just got a FREE $500 macy's gift card in the mail just from this website: givemacys.com

the only thing i can do now is just turn off the chat all together. i'm pretty sure the chat thing is due to a virus cause i have limewire. is there anything i can do to stop it from happening?

Well, that "friend" of yours is actually a computer bot printing advertisements to your chat. Its password changing time.

stop using limewire which is known to give people viruses due to allowing anyone to upload programs. a torrent client is a little safer and just as effective. try bit spirit. then try sites like the pirate's bay. and if you can get in go with demonoid.

also never click on anything that says FREE, that sounds too good to be true. either its a virus or takes you to a site where you have to answer countless questions then have to complete 3 offers to get the prize.

also equip your browser with WOT it wont allow you to go to red sites without your ok. plus the obvious scan your pc for viruses, spyware and other forms of malware often.

I just thought I'd add this in here - I just got this message too, so I don't think that it's just his friend losing his password. Unless somehow we know the same person.

I think it might me a mass-hacking or a virus problem with facebook.

I just got that too.

It was sent to me by one of my friends that would NEVER IM me. So i knew something was up.

Chances are when you click on it it signs you off facebook, but in the process retrieves your password. So it just keeps spreading.

Changing your password will prolly stop it.
