How long do you believe Facebook will last?
I've quitted Facebook 2 weeks ago for good. I know it has to do with how you use it, but I felt Facebook "made" me expose my information and I hated this; also, having too many "friends" seeing my updates daily and getting flooded by lots of their useless and stupid things... I've gotten REALLY annoyed. Also, I hated to know I was giving free informations to Zuckerberg, Obama etc... I just regret having not leaving Facebook earlier.

Ok, it's no rocket science. Everybody has always known the bad side of Facebook.

But I've noticed people are starting to get bored and are no longer too fond of Facebook. I am pioneer among my friends but they show that they are also annoyed. I am encouraging them to leave.

I have read some articles saying that people in their 20s (I'm 21) and 30s are leaving, so there is some trend.

What do you think? How long until Facebook fades out as a hegemonic social network and becomes like MySpace?

Facebook is sadly here to stay, one of it's great strengths is in social groups that have spread apart so not you 18-25 year olds but your 30-50 year olds who keep in touch using it. the demographic might shift from time to time but facebook is now so entrenched it would leave a massive hole in the net if it fell

As long as it is profitable and inverters allow it. FB isn't primarily a social network site, it's a personal info siphon for advertising revenue.

I think the question you should be asking is whether Facebook will ever be in the financial position to buy Google, or vice versa. They are both interested in the same things as so eloquently described by DR Bunk The Spliff Flunkie Skunk.

I think your comment: "I hated to know I was giving free informations to Zuckerberg, Obama etc" is a bit short-sighted. You are sharing information with the world, either wittingly or unwittingly, and Facebook isn't about to make it easier for you not to do so when its existence depends on behaving like a parasitic plant that thrives on naiveté.

>>> "I am pioneer among my friends but they show that they are also annoyed. I am encouraging them to leave." <<<

Annoyed about what?

Facebook is free. It's hard to moan about something that is free and nobody has forced anybody to sign up for. Unless you own shares in Facebook, your complaints are like farts in the wind. Do you think they will miss you and your friends when you all threaten to leave together in disgust? Of course not, and most of them are too scared to leave because they don't really know how to make friends outside of Facebook any more.

Where will you all go and hang about if you all cut the Facebook umbilical cord?
