Facebook Creator's Riches?

My wife is an avid user of the networking site Facebook (I personally think it's a pile of pants). Anyways i was reading the other day that the guy who created the program, who's about 10, is now a multi millionaire because of it. My question is that as the site is free to register and costs nothing while you use it how did the guy make his money from it? I know there are very little ads on the site so unless he sold it then I'm stumped.

first, the guy is not 10 hes much older. And second, that's exactly where he gets the money from. From all the little ads that you see everywhere in the site.

You see, advertisers pay BIG money if you have a good targeted audience. And facebook is filled with TONS of info about everything since people post everything personal to them there.

so to sum it up, it's a advertising heaven and that's where they get their money.
