Hot guy on Facebook...should I message him?

While on the app, Hot or Not, I stumbled upon a guy that I thought looked familiar. Come to find out, he is one of my friend's cousins who I met a few years ago. We are Facebook friends, but I don't think we've ever talked on there; we kind of just added each other after hanging out with my friend/his cousin that one time, about four years ago. I'm gay, but I am not very open about it. I don't know if he's gay, but like I said, on the Hot or Not app, I ran into him (meaning my search was filtered for guys, who- I'm assume- also have a filtered search for guys). Should I message him? Should I not answer him? What should I say if yes?

I'm not familiar with the app Hot or Not. You say you filtered it for males - are you sure he filtered it the same way? Since you are both Facebook friends, you could message him - saying you were just reviewing your FB page and came across his name and thought you might like to get to know him. By chatting a little, you can get to know him better and by casual discussions, you can get to know if he's gay or not. Getting to know a person on a face to face basis is better (in my opinion) that doing it electronically. Of course if Hot or Not is definitely a gay site, then there's nothing to worry about. But do remember that once you share a secret with even one other person, it is no longer a secret.
